"For this collection I went looking for landscapes to which I have no parochial attachment.
I used photography, travel and time as intermediaries between the first hand experience
and the making of the resultant paintings. The process, then, became one of reselecting
and redescribing, so that the photographs themselves rather than their subjects became
a motif for composition" - Larry Mitchell
Larry Mitchell has enjoyed a long and celebrated career as a landscape painter, achieving much of his acclaim through paintings featuring the Western Australian coastline.
The Other Side represents another side to Mitchell's landscape subject; it continues to show the strength of his talents in painting realistic settings with brialliant technical skill and eye for composition.
Larry Mitchell has worked as a full time practicing artist for over ten years and exhibited extensively for over twenty, in which time he has developed a strong following of patrons both in Australia and internationally.
