ARTISTS STATEMENT Without beauty we lose our connection to the world and it becomes separate from us. It is not a veneer to spread over less palatable realities. It is an experience that motivates us to imagine , without beauty and occasions to experience it we would be left with reason alone, and this would leave us unmotivated, uninspired and in many cases alienated. Pattern and repetition are a part of each day. Drawn from the domestic, decorative past and nature, pattern becomes my days. Whilst the decorative and ornamental have been dismissed as irrelevant in the past, and even been feared and ignored, I am drawn in and unable to leave. It is the complexity, the simplicity, the connection to the world around me, or maybe the world of my making. The paradox of being.
